Rabbi Mordechai Becher is coming to St. Louis on a bikur cholim visit, and has agreed to give a shiur in the evening as part of our regular Beit Midrash/Mishmar Thursday night program. The program will begin at 8:00 pm with a 30 minute 'chavruta' study preparation time, followed by Rabbi Becher's shiur from 8:30-9:30, with Ma'ariv and cholent to follow. The shiur will take place in the front section of the Beit Midrash, and the topic is: "Slabodka, Human Dignity and Morality."
This lecture is dedicated in zchut for a refuah shleimah for Rabbi Gershon Zeffren, רפאל גרשון יצחק בן מאטל צירל.
Rabbi Mordechai Becher, originally from Australia, is senior lecturer for the Gateways Organization. He taught at Ohr Somayach, Neve Yerushalayim and Darchei Binah in Jerusalem for 15 years, served in the Israel Defence Forces and taught in a number of Rabbinic training programs. Rabbi Becher has answered thousands of questions on the Ask-the-Rabbi website, and his latest book, Gateway to Judaism, published by Shaar Press, is now in its sixth printing. Rabbi Becher received his ordination from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. He has lectured for the UJA, Jewish Federations, the Zionist Organization of America, Hillel and is on the speakers' bureau of the Israeli Consulate in New York. He has taught in Canada, the United States, England, Israel, South Africa, Australia and Russia.

Notes on Davening
- We use the RCA Artscroll Ashekenazi siddur. Our baalei tefilla use either the Sephardic or Ashkenazi havarah, depending on their personal preferences.
- Our minhagim generally follow the Luach Ezras Torah.
- For Shabbos/Shabbat candlelighting times and exact times for mincha, please see the bulletin.
- On days school is not in session (summer and Chol Hamoed) there may be an additional Shacharis/Shacharit Shacharit minyan at 8 am; check the announcements.
- Legal Holidays are New Year's Day, Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and December 25th.
- On weekdays when the Torah is read, Shacharis/Shacharit follows the Monday-Thursday schedule.
- The actual algorithm for weekday mincha is 20 minutes before the earliest sh'kia for that week, rounded up to the next multiple of 5 minutes. The actual algorithm for mincha on erev Shabbos/Shabbat is candlelighting time, rounded down to the previous multiple of 5 minutes.
