Modern Orthodoxy: The Definition and Preservation of a Philosophy
WELCOME: Young Israel is honored to welcome Rabbi Shalom Hammer to St. Louis. Rabbi Hammer received his semicha from Yeshiva University and has a Masters in Education from Azrieli Graduate School. Rabbi Hammer currently teaches in a Mechina pre-Army Yeshiva program in Migdal HaEmek-Galil for post high school students originally from the former Soviet Union, and is a regular lecturer at the OU Israel Center in Jerusalem. Rabbi Hammer also lectures throughout the U.S. and is the author of The Family Parsha Book.
SHABBOS YOUTH ACTIVITIES
Shabbat Groups led by Uria Teperberg. Groups are from 10:00 – 11:15 AM
1st-6th Grades: Jr. Congregation. Age 4-1st grade: Davening groups. Up to 4 yrs: Babysitting
‘V’Shinantem L’Vanecha every Motzei Shabbat join TMK for our new parent-child learning program (K-6th grade) @ 6:30-7:15 PM during the winter at Young Israel. This week Rabbi Shalom Hammer will lead the group.
Important Note to Parents: Parents are reminded that they are responsible for their children while on Shul property. We ask that every child be either with a parent or in one of the supervised youth programs listed above. This is essential for the safety of our children and the protection of Shul property. Thanks for your cooperation.

MAZEL TOV – to Mark & Barbara Drazen on the birth of twin granddaughters to Josh & Susie Drazen of Englewood, NJ. Mazel tov to the great grandmother, Helen Drazen. The naming of the babies will be this Shabbos.

Tuesday: 11 AM Women’s Parsha class. 8:30 PM Talmud, Sanhedrin, with Rabbi Amiel Rosenbloom.
Wednesday: 9:15 AM – Weekly Beit Midrash for women given by Vardit Teperberg at the home of Faye Newman 7916 Stanford.
7 -8 PM Mesechta Berachot class given by Dr. Katz. Open to everyone.
Thursday: 7:30-8:30 PM with Dov Zeffren. Topics from the weekly Parsha
PLEASE NOTE
DEFIBRILLATOR – The shul is in need of donations for an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED). We would appreciate donations of $100 towards the purchase of this life saving device. Please contact Carey Fredman at 727-9729. Thank you.
DONATION – Young Israel received a donation from Jeff & Judy Whisler to thank the Y.I. community for their kindness & inclusion on behalf of Jordan Whisler.
CLOTHING LEFT IN THE SHUL – There are many items of clothing that have been left at Y.I. for several weeks or months. All have been marked with masking tape and are currently hanging downstairs on the coat rack next to the rear entrance to the Bais Midrash. If they are not claimed and removed by THIS Sun., Jan. 7th, they will be donated to a charity. This activity is part of our ongoing efforts to keep the shul looking neat and clean. Thank you.
COMMUNITY NEWS
ST. LOUIS COMMUNITY WEDDING DRESS G’MACH – This local G’mach loans bridal gowns at no charge. We have a large selection of modest styles. There are several bridesmaids and mother-of-the groom/bride dresses also available. For an appointment or to donate a dress, please call Faye Newman 862-7537 or Phyllis Shapiro 725-4876. New tribute cards may be purchased. All proceeds go to increasing our inventory.
