Dear Friends:
I hope you all had a wonderful and inspiring Yom Tov. As we begin returning to our regular routine, I would like to remind you all of a very important program taking place this week, which I had announced over the last days of the Chag.
This week, Epstein Hebrew Academy will be hosting a unique program entitled "Safety Kid". It is an Orthodox program and a project of Aleinu Family Resource Center of the Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles, which is committed to raising awareness, teaching skills and providing information to protect children from becoming victims of abduction, abuse or exploitation. Aleinu uses parent, teacher and student presentations to empower children to make good decisions about their personal safety. Aleinu also helps schools to formulate policies for the administration and teachers, to help assure a safe school environment.
They will be working with the students teachers / administration, and parents to ensure a safe school environment, and then 'certifying' the school as a 'safe school'. It is a unique program in the Orthodox community in America.
Aleinu has agreed, at our request, to open up the parent information portion of the program, to the entire Orthodox community, and not limit it only to parents of Epstein's student body. As such, I would like to encourage all our members to try to attend this very important program, taking place this Tuesday evening (tomorrow!) at 7:00pm, at Epstein Hebrew Academy.
This is an extremely sensitive and important issue in the community today. And your involvement, awareness, and sensitivity are vitally important to all.
I hope to see you there.
I remain sincerely yours,
Rabbi Moshe Shulman
