CHESS CLASS: An experienced chess player and teacher, Aleksey
Kazakevich (USCF rating: 1737), is organizing a chess program this summer for grades
K-5. Aleksey has taught chess at
During the eight classes of the program, the students will receive instruction in all aspects of the game: openings, middlegame, and endgame, tactics, and strategy. During the course of the program, the students will be able to test their newly acquired skills against each other. Finally, during the last four classes, the students will participate in the tournament (where they will compete against players of similar level), with the award ceremony taking place during the last class.
Session I: June 13-July 5, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 5:00-5:45. Session II, July 11-August 2, Wednesdays and Thursday, 5:00-5:45 Cost: $40 per session. Contact: akazakev@slu.edu.
