WOMEN'S SHIUR: Matil Ziril (Matilda Zeffren) Womens Shiur will take place today, April 30th, at the home of Leila Biel, 8146 Balson, at 4:30 pm. The featured speaker will be Rivka Serel Yaroslawitz Berkowitz, with brief remarks by Zippora Yaroslawitz.
UPCOMING SCHOLARS-IN-RESIDENCE FROM ISRAEL!
SHABBAT APRIL 30 – RAV SHAI PIRON: We welcome the Petach Tikvah Yeshiva High School delegation to the FIRST Robotics Convention to our community. We also welcome Rav Shai Piron. Co-founder of Yeshivat Hesder Petach Tikvah, and a prominent educator and public figure in Israel. Rav Piron served as a member of the government appointed Dovrat Commission for educational reform in Israel. He is one of the leaders of the Tzohar rabbinical organization and an active member of numerous charitable organizations supporting special-needs populations. Rabbi Piron is a Ph.D. candidate in law and serves as the community rabbi in his hometown, Oranit.
SHABBAT MAY 7 – RABBI SHAUL FELDMAN - Director of Bnei Akiva of North America. Rabbi Feldman has served as a teacher and educator in Yeshiva Kerem Beyavneh, as well as practicing law in Jerusalem. He presently is the director of Bnei Akiva in both the US and Canada, and lives in Beit Shemesh. He will be visiting St. Louis as part of a Shabbat Bnei Akiva at Young Israel. (see Bnei Akiva News)
MAY 27–29 – RABBI SHLOMO RISKIN - . Torah MiTzion Kollel and Young Israel will be hosting Scholar-In-Residence, Rabbi Shlomo Riskin, of Efrat & Ohr Torah Stone Institutions. From Sunday - Tuesday, over thirty shlichim from Ohr Torah Stone's Straus-Amiel Institute will join Rabbi Riskin in St. Louis for a rabbinic and educators conference, including many learning opportunities for the community.

YOM HASHOAH COMMEMORATION – Sunday, May 1st, 4:00-5:30 pm, at Shaarei Emeth Congregation, 11645 Ladue Rd, sponsored by the St. Louis Holocaust Museum and Learning Center. This year’s theme: “The Holocaust in the Former Soviet Union: the 70th Anniversary of the Nazi German Invasion” will pay homage to the 1.5 million Jews murdered in the Soviet territories.

BLOCK GALA: Ads for the Block Gala are due Sunday, May 1. Everyone should have received their invitations the week before Pesach. The gala is a tribute to the memory of Yetra Goldberg and a celebration of 30 years of BYHS graduates. Also at the gala, Wayne Dugge will receive the Devoted Teacher Award. Ads should be emailed to byhs2@juno.com. The BYHS Gala is on May 16 at the Crowne Plaza.

Registration is now open for Derech Eretz Camp for the summer of 2011 Monday, July 25th to Friday August 12th, 2011. Camp is for children entering Kindergarten through 11th grade in the fall of 2011. A special separate camping program is planned for the older grades. YACHAD-ISRAEL: All school age children are welcome to the JCC during the school day of Yom Ha'atzmaut - Tuesday, May 10th to celebrate the creation of the modern State of Israel 63 years ago. St. Louis day school students, grades kindergarten through eighth grade, will participate in the program.
