SHUL PROGRAMS

SHABBAT GROUPS: Now begin at 10:00 am.

PARENT/CHILD MOTZEI SHABBAT LEARNING: At Young Israel in the Beit Midrash, for grades 1-8, 6:30 pm, throughout the winter months. Materials for learning will be provided or you may bring your own.

MONDAY NIGHT LEARNING: Our Beit Midrash learning on Monday nights continues at 8:00pm every week and concludes at 9:30pm with Ma’ariv.

RABBI FRANK & ADELE HOFFMAN SHABBAT CHINUCH: Attention Kindergarten and 1st Grade Parents and Grandparents - Shabbat Chinuch this year will be held on December 11th. Each child will be presented with a special gift from the Shul, followed by a special "kid-friendly" kiddush. We ask that each family send in a photo of your child/grandchild via email to Sara Greene at sargreene@yahoo.com. The photos will be used to decorate the social hall. Sponsorships for the kiddush are available and welcomed. We have lists from EHA, Torah Prep, and Solomon Schechter. Please let the office know if you have a child or grandchild in another school, so that he/she can be included.

YOUNG ISRAEL DINNER: We are pleased to announce that Dr Robert & Barbara Strashun will be our honorees for the Shul dinner, which will be held on February 13, 2011.

NEW KASHRUT CARDS: We have received new Kashrut cards from the CRC in Chicago that have several new symbols on them. Several hechsharim were removed from the old cards to make room for the new ones. However, no hechsharim have been discontinued; All symbols on both cards are valid..

BOOK CLUB: We are reading “Rashi's Daughters” by Maggie Anton. The next meeting TBA.

WOMEN’S DIVISION

CALENDAR: The 2011 Women's Division Calendar is now being put together. This is a very important fundraiser, with proceeds funding the Shul's Youth Programming. Letters were sent out to the entire shul this week. Please see the flyer and form for more information. The deadline is December 10th - don't wait until the last minute to get your listings in! HANUKAH HUGS: LAST CHANCE - JFCS has given us a very large box to fill with new unwrapped toys, books, etc to be distributed for Chanukah. If each family would bring one item, the box would be full. The box is downstairs outside the office. As you shop for Chanukah, please think about purchasing that extra item.

EHA BOOK FAIR: Are you looking for the perfect Chanukah gift? Come visit Epstein Hebrew Academy’s annual Book Fair open now through November29th during regular school hours.

EHA STAFF vs. ALUMNI BASKETBALL GAME: Ready for some excitement?! The H. F. Epstein Hebrew Academy staff invites all alumni to a friendly Thanksgiving weekend basketball game at the Yetra and Israel Goldberg Gymnasium on November 27th. Doors open at 6 pm. Admission is free.
