YOUNG ISRAEL DINNER: We are pleased to announce our honorees for the dinner, which will be on January 30th, 2011, are Dr Robert & Barbara Strashun.

YOUNG COUPLES SALON: The series for this year begins with a discussion - Chanukah: Mt. Sinai vs. Mt Olympus, at the home of Aryeh & Aviva Needle, 900 Dalkeith Lane, Motzei Shabbat, November 20th, 8 pm.

PARENT/CHILD MOTZEI SHABBAT LEARNING: At Young Israel in the Beit Midrash, for grades 1-8, beginning this Motzei Shabbat (November 20th), 6:30pm, and running throughout the winter months. Materials for learning will be provided or you may bring your own.

YOM IYUN: Presented by TMK/Young Israel on Thursday, November 25th, after the 8 am minyan.

SHABBAT CHINUCH: Attention Kindergarten and 1st Grade Parents and Grandparents - Shabbat Chinuch this year will be held on December 11th. Each child will be presented with a special gift from the Shul, followed by a special "kid-friendly" kiddush. We ask that each family send in a photo of your child/grandchild via email to Sara Greene at sargreene@yahoo.com. The photos will be used to decorate the social hall. Sponsorships for the kiddush are available and welcomed. We have lists from EHA, Torah Prep, and Solomon Schechter. Please let the office know if you have a child or grandchild in another school, so that he/she can be included.

NEW KASHRUT CARDS: We have received the new Kashrut cards from the CRC in Chicago. These cards have a few different symbols on them. Any hechshar that was removed was done so to make room for the new ones. All symbols on both cards are valid. No hechsharim have been discontinued.

BOOK CLUB: We are reading “Rashi's Daughters” by Maggie Anton. The next meeting TBA.

COMMUNITY NEWS

HANUKAH HUGS: It’s that time again. JFCS has given us a very large box to fill with new unwrapped toys, books, etc to be distributed for Chanukah. The box is downstairs outside the office. As you begin to shop for Chanukah, please think about purchasing an extra item.

EHA FUNDRAISER: Kosher by Design for Teens and 20 Somethings and all of the other Kosher by Design cookbooks can be ordered now through November 22 by calling the school at 994-7856 OR Angela Tannenbaum at 802-7710. You may also purchase them at the EHA Book Fair, November 18-29.

EHA BOOK FAIR: Are you looking for the perfect Chanukah gift? Come visit Epstein Hebrew Academy’s annual Book Fair, open now through November29th. In addition to being open during regular school hours, the Fair will be open, Sunday Nov 21st, 10 am-12 pm and Tuesday Nov 23rd, 6-8:30 pm.

EHA STAFF vs. ALUMNI BASKETBALL GAME: Ready for some excitement?! The H. F. Epstein Hebrew Academy staff invites all alumni to a friendly Thanksgiving weekend basketball game at the Yetra and Israel Goldberg Gymnasium on November 27th. Doors open at 6 pm. Admission is free.
