Dear
A few weeks
ago, we asked for your help in raising money to get a bracha from Rav
Kanievsky shlit"a for the refuah shleimah of Meira Mindel
bas Chava Golda. We were amazed at the speedy and generous response from the
community! Because of your help, in just a few short weeks, we raised way more
than the amount needed, all of which is going to support needy brides and
grooms. We came across the following d'var torah by Rabbi Yoni Posnick
which beautifully expresses our feelings towards the money that was raised for tzedakah:
The posuk in last week's parsha [Vayakhel-Pekudei] tells us that
an announcement was made that there were sufficient materials for the building
of the Mishkan and no further donations were needed. At first glance,
however, there seems to be an internal contradiction in the posuk, which
says, “Vehamelacha haysa dayam lechol hamelacha la'asos osah vehoseir.”
First the posuk tells us that the donations were dayam, sufficient,
implying exactly enough. The posuk goes on to use the word vehoseir,
meaning that there was extra, a surplus. Which is it? The Ohr Hachaim
Hakadosh answers with a beautiful thought. In reality, the Jewish nation
enthusiastically gave so much, so quickly, that the total contributions were
actually far more than was necessary for the building of the Mishkan.
There was a lot extra. Hashem saw that if there would be leftovers after the
Mishkan was complete, some Jews would be saddened at the prospect that
perhaps their contribution hadn't been used. He therefore made a miracle and
arranged that everything, even the excess, should be put to use and fit into
the vessels, boards, and curtains of the Mishkan, causing the surplus
donations to appear necessary and, in fact, the exact amount needed. You can be
sure that none of the money raised was "extra, a surplus."
Every cent, shekel, and euro will go towards the Aviva Aryeh a"h Hachnasat
Kallah Fund, run by Michlalah, helping to support newlywed couples. We cannot
thank you enough for your incredible generosity. G-d willing, in the merit of
the community's tremendous chessed and tefillot, we will see the
speedy recovery of Meira and all the cholim in
