SHABBAT KALLAH: The Munks would like to invite all of the ladies to join them at a Shabbat Kallah for their daughter, Michal, this Shabbat at the Bresler’s home, 7934 Stanford, at 6:00 pm.

SHABBAT MORNING GROUPS: Thank you to Esti Munk for leading the Shabbat groups this week. The groups will meet from 10:30 to 11:30 am.

NEW CLASS: Dr Joe Feder will be giving a men’s class at noon every Wednesday, beginning August 26th. All are welcome.

WELCOME: We would like to welcome our new bnot sherut, Sara Kampler and Tova Maimon, to our community. They will be living at the Oberlanders. Please contact Ruth Asher at 727-6317 if you would like to have the girls for a Shabbat meal.

GUEST SPEAKERS: We are honored to be able to host two major events next month. On September 1st, HaRav Gedalia Dov Schwartz, head of the RCA Beth Din and head of the CRC in Chicago, will be speaking at Young Israel at 7:30pm. His topic is “Elul – A Time of Private and Public Introspection” and is sponsored by The St. Louis Rabbinical Council. On Shabbat, September 12th, Rabbi Menachem Leibtag will be our Scholar-in-Residence. His topics and times will be forthcoming.

FLOWERS FOR ROSH HASHANAH & SUKKOT: We have an opportunity to beautify our homes for the chaggim. We will be ordering roses (white or mixed blue & white) and mixed flower bouquets for Yom Tom as a fundraiser. The cost will be $25 per dozen/bouquet. UNVEILING: The unveiling for Esther Miller will be on Monday, September 7th, at Chesed Shel Emeth, on White Rd, at 2:30 pm.

TRIBUTE CARDS: Giving Tzedakah is the perfect way to commemorate a simcha or remember a loved one. The Women’s Division has tribute cards for just this purpose. Contact Matilda Zeffren at 862-3809 for more information.

MEN’S SWIM: The 8th grade at Epstein has organized a boy’s/men’s swim on August 23rd at the Shaw Park pool on Brentwood Blvd, from 8-10 pm. The cost is $5/person or $25 max/family. For information call Bonnie Goldmeier at 863-1881 or Adi Feen at 862-2740.

AMERICAN JEWISH HISTORY: Don Makovsky will be teaching a class titled: American Jewish History :1654-1865, on Wednesday nights, at Washington University College, 6:30-900pm starting Augusts 26th, for 3 units of undergrad credit. Mishnat Pinchas: TMK parent/child learning begins 5 minutes after the start of Kiddush.  

Beit Midrash for Women- On September 2, 2009, Merav Possick will resume the continuing study of Shmuel Bet. All women are welcome every Wednesday morning, 9 AM, in the home of Faye Newman (7916 Stanford).

Ulpan at Young Israel, taught by Gilat Gastfraind, will occur Monday & Tuesday evenings from October through March (1st semester, October 12th - December 15th; 2nd semester, January 4th - March 9th). Monday, 7:00-7:50 pm Children Beginners; 8:00-8:50 pm Adult Beginners; Tuesday, 7:00-7:50pm Adult Intermediate; 8:00-8:50 pm Adult Advanced $89/semester in advance (includes workbook).
