Please let Jonty know if one of your children wore it home by mistake. And Aaron Fredman has lost a gold watch with a black leather band. Please contact Aaron if you have seen it.

TRIBUTE CARDS: Giving Tzedakah is the perfect way to commemorate a simcha or remember a loved one. The Women’s Division has tribute cards for just this purpose. Contact Matilda Zeffren at 862-3809 for more information

COMMUNITY NEWS

HOW WOULD IT AFFECT YOU IF THERE WAS NO ERUV?

The four volunteers who have maintained the Eruv for 15 years are retiring! Wanted: Young people (20's, 30's, 40's) to replace these four people to make up the core group that is responsible for keeping the Eruv up and coordinating the weekly volunteers that assist. Training will be provided (no pole climbing involved). Must be able to use basic tools, (hammer, nails, screwdrivers, pruner, etc.). Must be able to work at variable times prior to Shabbos:

** Spring and Summer: Thursday during the day or evening, Friday in the morning.

** Late Fall and Winter: Thursday evening or Friday morning.

It is imperative to keep this valuable asset viable in our community. We can't let ‘someone else’ do it. This is our Eruv, we as a community are the ones who must take care of it.

Please contact Rabbi Shulman or one of the four people listed below:

TOMCHEI SHABBOS SPECIAL EVENT: The Barbara Mendelson Tomchei Shabbos project of the Vaad Hoeir invites you to mark its 1st anniversary with a FREE FAMILY BREAKFAST on Sunday, June 21st 9:30-11:00 am at Nusach Hari Bnai Zion, to thank the community for its wholehearted support. Activities for children will be available. We would appreciate donations of food and/or money to help us continue our work. For information call Merle Hartstein 469-7142; for tribute cards, call Jackie Gerson at 997-7257

FOOD SHORTAGE: The Harvey Kornblum Food Pantry is asking for our help. They have had over an 80% increase in clients between January and May of 2009 compared with the same months in 2008. Because of this, they need to restock their shelves more often. The kids are home from school now and the meal programs for students do not operate in the summer. They are in need of most items, but especially: peanut butter, jelly, rice, tuna, juices, macaroni & cheese, and healthy snacks. If you have any questions, please contact Sue Rundblad at 314-812-9307 or srundblad@jfcs-stl.org.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: People interested in making a difference in the lives of Jewish older adults are needed as volunteer drivers to deliver hot kosher dinners to the homebound in the University City area. Volunteers are needed for approximately one hour on various days of the week. For more information please contact Florence Schacter, Director of Resident and Community Services, at the Crown Center for Senior Living, 314-991-2055, fschachter@crowncenterstl.org.
