GUEST SPEAKER: Rabbi Shalom Hammer of the Yeshivat Hesder in Sderot will be speaking at Young Israel on Wednesday, February 18th, at 8:30 pm on ‘Israel: Struggle for Survival - Vision for Continuity.’The war in Gaza was a tremendous boost in morale for the people in Israel and the IDF. Rabbi Hammer will demonstrate, from a Religious perspective, why the war was a triumph for the people of Israel and the Israel Defense Force. This event is sponsored by Young Israel, Epstein Hebrew Academy, and Torah MiTzion.

CLASS CANCELLED THIS WEEK ONLY: Rabbi Shulman’s Wednesday night class on “Rambam’s 13 Principles of Faith” is cancelled this week ONLY to accommodate Rabbi Hammer’s presentation.

SPRUCE – UP – THE – SHUL: Volunteers are urgently needed this Sunday, February 15th, from 12-3 pm to dust, sweep, polish and shine! PLEASE call Bonnie Drazen 727-3967, or email bonteach5@yahoo.com to volunteer. We need to know how many people will be at shul on Sunday to help. Refreshments will be provided! Thank you to Gershon who has volunteered to take apart the ovens and pre-spray the parts. Looking forward to seeing everyone in their cleaning garb!

PURIM IS COMING: And so is Esther’s Express. The Womens Division is once again sending Mishloach Manot packages for you. For $150, you can send a beautiful gift package to the entire shul. AND PURIM DOESN’T END: This year Young Israel is having a Shushan Purim Party after your Purim Seudah on Tuesday night, March 10th from 8 - 10 pm. There will be music, finger food, a Purim Shpiel and lots of fun. No reservations are needed. The cost is $10/person at the door.

YES-IT’S ALMOST PESACH: And it’s time to order shmura matza. Price lists have been sent out and orders MUST be in and paid for by February 22. Extra forms are available in the lobby and in the office.

TRIBUTE CARDS: Giving Tzedakah is the perfect way to commemorate a simcha or remember a loved one. The Women’s Division has tribute cards for just this purpose. Contact Matilda Zeffren at 862-3809 for more information

KASHRUTH SYMBOL CARDS: The CRC has distributed credit card size laminated kashruth symbol cards – perfect for your purse or pocket. They are only $1.00 and are available in the office.

MEMORIAL TRIBUTE: There will be a memorial tribute for Rabbi Noah Weinberg, founder and dean of Aish HaTorah, on Sunday, February 15th, at the Aish HaTorah West Firehouse, 457 N. Woods Mill Rd, at 8 pm. Rabbis Elazar Grunberger, Shmuel Greenwald and Max Weiman will speak about the inspiration we can take from Rabbi Weinberg’s life and how to apply it to our own. Featured people from the community will talk about how Rabbi Weinberg has impacted their lives. There will be a video with highlights from the Rabbi’s life.

ASSISTANCE IS AVAILABLE:The St. Louis Community is truly fortunate to have various organizations available to help us in this time of flux and uncertainty. Under the leadership of the Jewish Federation, the Jewish Family & Children's Service, MERS/Missouri Goodwill Industries, the JCC, and others have professional staff to help and advise those who are in need of employment, financial assistance, adult day programs, or any other issues.
