JR ONEG: There will be a JR NCSY Oneg this Shabbat at the home of Ruth & Buddy Adler, 8034 Cornell, at 7:45pm- 9:00pm, for grades 5-8.

SHABBAT GROUPS for grades K through 6 meet from 10:00–11:30 am downstairs.Babysitting is available for children ages 2-5.

ICE CREAM PARTY: JR NCSY will host a Hanukah Hugs ice cream party at Ben & Jerry’s (Olive Rd near The Source), Saturday night, 6:30pm-7:45pm. Cost: $5.00 or FREE with a new unwrapped toy.

GUEST SPEAKER: Rabbi Chaim Eisen will speak on ‘Chanukah's Message: Kindling the Light of Creativity,’ on Wednesday, December 17th, at 7 pm at the Shul. Rabbi Eisen has been lecturing on various aspects of Jewish philosophy/hashkafah in Israel for over 20 years. He is a long-time and current lecturer at the O-U Center in Jerusalem. He taught at Yeshivat HaKotel for almost 20 years. He serves in the Lecture Corps of the IDF's Reserves. For more details please call Eli Feen, at 862-2740 or 216-288-3679.

MEDICAL ETHICS : The St. Louis Society for Jewish Medical Ethics presents the Dr. J. Lester Zeffren Chair ‘Winter Symposium’ featuring Dr. Avraham Steinberg, Thursday December 18th.  ‘Lunch and Learn’ will be at 12 noon in the Shul’s social hall. TRIBUTE CARDS: Giving Tzedakah is the perfect way to commemorate a simcha or remember a loved one. The Women’s Division has tribute cards for just this purpose. Contact Matilda Zeffren at 862-3809 for more information.

KASHRUTH SYMBOL CARDS: The CRC has distributed credit card size laminated kashruth symbol cards – perfect for your purse or pocket. They are only $1.00 and are available in the office.

ASSISTANCE IS AVAILABLE: The St. Louis Community is truly fortunate to have various organizations available to help us in this time of flux and uncertainty. Under the leadership of the Jewish Federation, the Jewish Family & Children's Service, MERS/Missouri Goodwill Industries, the JCC, and others have professional staff to help and advise those who are in need of employment, financial assistance, adult day programs, or any other issues. Please refer to the flyer in the lobby and take advantage of these wonderful resources.

 

CHANUKAH PARTY: Everyone is invited to the 2nd Annual Air Force Chanukah Party at the Scott Air Force Base Chapel on Sunday, December 28th from 1 to 4 pm. Admission is $6 for adults and $3 for kids. HANUKAH HUGS 2008: The Food Pantry is distributing toys for Chanukah to families who come in to get food. Please bring a new, unwrapped gift for children, ages birth – 12. The box is downstairs outside of the Shul office. We have already sent one box of toys. Let’s do a couple more.

THIS SUNDAY: The 18th Annual Aish Gala Auction will be Sunday, December 14th, at 5:00 pm, at the St. Louis Airport Marriott Hotel. Cost is $38 per adult, $18 per child. There will be complimentary parking.Join us for a delicious buffet and desserts and fabulous auction items for your Chanukah shopping.

EHA MEETING: We at the Epstein Hebrew Academy would like to thank all the people who gave input into our Strategic Planning. Now, we would like to share with you the Strategic Plan that has been adopted by the Board. So, join us at an Open Board Meeting on Monday, December 15th at 8:00 p.m. at the school. Anna Rich will also be speaking that evening about the role of the Learning Disabilities Association at EHA thus far this year.

Mishnat Pinchas, the TMK parent/child learning begins 5 minutes after the start of Kiddush.This week, we begin the study of Perek 5 of Pirkei Avot.

Beit Midrash for Women, with Merav Possick, at the home of Faye Newman, 7916 Stanford, Wednesdays at 9:00 am.

Mother/Daughter Bat MitzvahProgram will begin January 11th (ten Sunday evenings at Young Israel). To sign up, contact Merav - 420-3696.
