ADELE AND FRANK HOFFMAN SHABBAT CHINUCH: Shabbat Bereshit, October 25th. We are asking all of our parents to submit the names of their Kindergarten and 1st graders to the office so the appropriate number of books can be purchased. We are also looking for sponsors for the kiddush, and help to shop for it, decorate the hall, and set up the kiddush on Shabbat.

 

TABLECLOTHS: We’ve recently noticed that seven large round green tablecloths are missing from the rest. We ask whoever is storing them for us to please call the Shul office so we can get them from you. Thank you.

 

COMMUNITY NEWS

TEHILLIM RALLY: The community is invited to a Tehillim Rally with a live nationwide hook-up on Sunday, October 5th, at 12:00 pm, at Shaare Chesed, to daven for cholim and Klal Yisroel.

DRASHA: Rabbi Frand’s Tshuva Drasha will be Monday, October 6th, at 8:15 pm, at Agudas Israel, 8202 Delmar, presented under the auspices of the St. Louis Kollel. Suggested donation is $10.00.

DRIVERS WANTED: The Crown Center needs volunteers to deliver hot kosher meals to older adults who are homebound. If you can help, please contact Nikki Goldstein at 314-991-2055.

FOOD DRIVE - The Harvey Kornblum Jewish Food Pantry is conducting its annual food drive. Bags are available to take and fill with non-perishable foods and sundries. Please deposit the bags in the box that is downstairs in the Shul near the office. This is the largest drive of the year and every little bit helps. Please participate.

TRIVIA NIGHT: The 2nd Annual Ohr Atid Trivia Night will be Sunday November 16th, at the Clayton Commons, #1 Mark Twain Circle, Doors open at 6:45pm and the game begins at 7:15pm. Put together a table or come alone. See flyer in lobby.

TOIVELING: The Girls School of BYHS is having a Chesed fundraiser. They will toivel your dishes for you for just $18 per trip. Please contact Sheera Hirschhorn, Gabi Mankowitz, or Leah Wachsstock.

RAFFLE: The Boy’s Senior Class of ’09 of BYHS is having a raffle to raise money for their class senior trip. The grand prize is $300. For more information or to purchase tickets, contact any BYHS senior boy, or call 314-657-5632.

SUSHI NIGHT: The BYHS Boy’s Senior Class is also sponsoring a take-out Sushi night on October 19th (Sunday Chol HaMoed Sukkot) at Young Israel. Order forms are available at Shul and can be dropped off at 4 locations. Orders must be in by Thursday Oct 16th.  Pick up time will be from 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm on the 19th.

WEDDING G’MACH: Bridal gowns, dresses for mother-of-the-bride or groom, and bridesmaid dresses are available for borrowing without charge. The G'mach, which serves the entire St. Louis Jewish community, specializes in dresses appropriate for traditional weddings. We have many styles and sizes. Please call Faye Newman (862-7537) or Phyllis Shapiro (725-4876) for an appointment. If you have a dress to donate, we would love to have it. What a wonderful way to share your simcha with others.

Mishnat Pinchas, the TMK parent/child learning begins 5 minutes after the start of Kiddush downstairs in Young Israel.

Rabbi Chaim Possick presents the Parshat HaShavua shiur 8 AM at Young Israel this Shabbat morning.

The Beit Midrash for Women taught by Merav Possick is at the home of Faye Newman, 7916 Stanford, Wednesdays at 9:00 am.
