RABBI’S CLASSES

Kohelet: Please note that the Rabbi’s Kohelet class on Monday night comes to a close this week with a double-header review. This class will run from 7:00-8:00pm, break for Mincha and Ma’ariv, and continue from 8:45-9:45pm.

Talmud: The Rabbi’s Wednesday evening Talmud class will go on hiatus starting this week (due to the lecture by Jonathan Rosenblum) and will resume at the end of the summer the summer. Details to follow.

 

HONORING LESTER & MATILDA ZEFFREN JUNE 15TH.

On Sunday the St. Louis Society of Jewish Medical Ethics is honoring our own Lester & Matilda Zeffren, who are establishing a special chair for Jewish medical ethics at Missouri Baptist Hospital.  Rabbi Bienenfeld is the guest speaker.  Please help support this important event, and contact the St. Louis Kollel for further details.

JONATHAN ROSENBLUM speaking at YI

Noted Jerusalem Post columnist and author, Jonathan Rosenblum, will speak at a community-wide event at Young Israel, Wednesday, June 18th at 8:00pm. His topic will be “Israel at 60: Threats from Without and Within”.

 

Talk on Zephania by Visiting Tanach Scholar

On Wednesday evening, June 18, 2008, at 7:00 p.m., Prof. Lawrence Zalcman, visiting Tanach scholar from Jerusalem, will talk on "A Closer Reading of Zephania 2:4." Prof. Zalcman (Department of Mathematics at Bar Ilan University) grew up in Kansas City and made aliyah about 25 years ago. He has published numerous articles in Biblical journals with "chidushim," innovative readings of difficult passages, primarily in the Prophets.  At the home of Betsy and Stuart Zimbalist, 8124 Amherst.  BYOT (Bring Your Own Tanach).
