MAZEL TOV –  to Aniel Shapiro on the celebration of her Bat Mitzvah.  Mazel Tov to her parents, Rachel & Michael, her grandparents, Phyllis & Jack Shaprio, and Dr. & Mrs. Samuel Smith, and her great-grandparents, Joseph Schlissel, Thelma Weiner, and Clara Shapiro.  Welcome to all her aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that have come in from near and far to share in the celebration.

END OF SHLOSHIM -You are invited to a program and Siyum for Sarah Adelman at Young Israel on Wed., Aug. 23rd at 8:15 pm.  Refreshments will be served.  Contributions to the Sarah Adelman Memorial Fund would be greatly appreciated.

 

REMINDER! – High Holiday seating requests are due in the office by September 5th.  The seating committee will make every effort to meet your requests.  However, they will only assign seats if you turn in a request form.

 

BABYSITTING – please send in your request for babysitting for the High Holidays by September 5th.

MEMBERSHIP DUES – For people who owe a balance on their account, the balance is due NOW, especially if you still owe dues, dinner, and journal ad. The new billing for membership dues for the new fiscal year Sept. 1, 2006-Aug. 31, 2007 will be mailed soon.   Thank you!

 

Save the date! –Young Israel General Meeting on Tuesday, August 29th at 8:00 PM. The discussion will be on the operations and events during the interim period without a Rabbi.

 

COMMUNITY EVENTS

 

“GEFILTE FISH IN GHANA?”  Come hear Tanya Fredman, “Sister Ama”, speak about her experience as a volunteer in a West African village this Sun., August 20th from 8:30-9:30 PM at the home of Susie & Carey Fredman, 7912 Blackberry.

 

HILLEL AT 60 – a series of events honoring St. Louis Hillel’s remarkable past, present and future will be held Tues., Sept 12 at 7:00 PM at the St. Louis Hillel Auditorium. Admission is free.  RSVP or for more info, 314-935-9040 or hillel@stlouishillel.org or see bulletin board in lobby.

 

TEHILLIM – there is a special merit to saying all of Tehillim twice every day.  Please join the Tizku L’Mitzvos and commit to saying one chapter twice each day.  Contact Mollie Fredman at 993-0378.

 

ISRAEL CRISIS FUND- Please help the people of Israel.  When Hezbolleh attacked northern Israel, Jewish Federations of North America mobilized to provide emergency relief to tens of thousands caught in the terror of daily attacks.
